A few months ago Galleon Software, the original developers of PowerTicker and its predecessor, MacTicker, re-purchased the rights to these products from Aladdin Systems. Now, the former has been updated, according to Roy Schulze of Galleon.
PowerTicker is a program that queries financial Web sites, reformatting the information it receives into an animated stock ticker and a collection of reports. You can configure PowerTicker to report on stock quotes in your portfolio, calculate your current investment value, and even convert international currencies at current exchange rates.
It has seen a minor upgrade to version 2.1.1, which fixes some bugs and a few outdated quote sources. This upgrade is free for current PowerTicker customers and should automatically recognize your Aladdin serial number. To purchase the product costs US$49.95. Upgrades from MacTicker are $9.95.
“PowerTicker for OS X due this fall,” Schulze said. “Currently, PowerTicker works perfectly in the Classic emulation environment of OS X, but we are busily working towards the release of the full OS X version.”
