Formac is offering, for a limited time, the chance for Mac owners to buy the Formac dvdram, an external DVD-RAM-based storage system for US$399. This is a direct price and no rebate is necessary, according to Robert Altmann of Formac.
The FireWire-based Formac dvdram features 9.4 GB data capacity on removable cartridges at a cost of less than one cent per megabyte. Altmann said it’s the only external DVD-RAM in the market that plays DVD video. Formac dvdram comes with ProDisc software that lets you format, partition and encrypt your media. And it sports FireWire connectivity and is bus powered with most Macs.
Customers can order online. The offer expires Friday, Aug. 31, and quantities are limited, Altmann said.
