If you’re shopping for a point-and-shoot digital camera, your options just increased.
Fuji Photo Film U.S.A has three new models — the FinePix A101, FinePix A201 and the FinePix 2600 — “pocket-size, go-anywhere” cameras targeted to beginning photographers.
The new models, the first in Fuji’s A-Series, sport streamlined functions and features and sport Fujifilm’s Advanced Color Technology and high-resolution, megapixel CCDs, according to Matt Knickerbocker, Fuji VP of Marketing, Consumer Markets Division. Internet-ready FinePixViewer software is designed to make it easy to capture and download photos via USB connectivity. The company’s drivers are designed for MacOS 8.6 to 9.x. No word on when Mac OS X versions will be available.
Knickerbocker said the new cameras use 30 percent less power than previous FinePix entry-level models. The three models feature conventional CCD sensors and varying zoom capabilities. The FinePix A101 has a 1.3 million-sensor CCD and 2x digital zoom; the FinePix A201 has a 2.0 million-sensor CCD and 2.5x digital zoom; and the FinePix 2600 Zoom offers a 2.0 million-sensor CCD with 3x optical and 2.5x digital zoom capabilities.
The FinePix A101 will be available later this month for US$179. The FinePix A201 and FinePix 2600 Zoom, priced at $249 and $299, respectively, will be available in September.
