BBEdit maker Bare Bones Software today announced the release of Mailsmith 1.1.8, the latest version of its e-mail client for the Macintosh.
The new version of Mailsmith improves compatibility with certain SMTP servers, according to the developers. Mailsmith 1.1.8 also includes a new “Export” scripting command which enables users to export entire mailboxes to mbox format. Miscellaneous bug fixes have also been made.
Registered users can upgrade to Mailsmith 1.1.8 by visiting the Web site’s updates page.
System requirements form Mailsmith call for a PowerPC-based Mac; System 7.5.5 or later (Mac OS 8.6 or later recommended); MacTCP 2.0.6 or Open Transport 1.1.2 or later; 8MB RAM; access to a POP3 or SMTP e-mail server; CD-ROM drive. Mailsmith works in Mac OS X as a Classic application.
Mailsmith 1.1.8 carries a suggested retail price of US$79. It can be purchased directly from Bare Bones Software and from major Mac software resellers. BBEdit, BBEdit Lite, Claris Emailer or Qualcomm Eudora users can purchase Mailsmith at a discounted price of $59, directly from Bare Bones Software.
