iREZ Technologies is shipping its StealthFire Web Camera, which uses a FireWire interface to operate at speeds of up to 400mb/sec. This means it can display or capture video at a full 30 frames/seconds at 640 x 480 resolution, according to Joel E. Barthelemy, iREZ president.
The StealthFire camera comes with software that provides video capture, editing, and viewing, as well as video chat. There are three StealthFire packages from which to choose. The StealthFire camera with complete software package is US$129.95. You can get a package that incluceds analog headset and microphone with volume control for $149.95. If you don’t have a FireWire port on your computer, you can get a $169.95 package that throws in a 3-port iREZ WildFire 1394/FireWire PCI card.
Minimum system requirements for Macs are: a PowerPC/233 or better processor, Mac OS 8.6 or 9.x (sorry, no Mac OS X drivers are available yet), 64 MB of RAM, 50 MB of hard disk storage space, CD-ROM drive for software installation, and an available FireWire port.
