Shapiro Consulting Group Inc. (SCGI) has announced the release of Asiva Photo, a new software application that can be used to make color corrections that its developers say “are almost impossible” using other digital imaging software.
Asiva Photo enables users to correct color without the use of masks, simplifying the process of correcting color on detail like hair. You can also soften and sharpen objects, increase saturation, brighten and darken areas, or create special effects.
Asiva Photo provides low-resolution images for the user to work with, so graphic designers and artists can see the changes almost immediately, rather than having to wait to see effects applied. It also makes the software able to work on larger files using older Macs, like an iMac with 32MB of available RAM, according to SCGI CTO Kevin Gordon.
ColorSync is also used, to help provide consistent color from input to editing to output device.
System requirements call for a Mac with 32MB of available RAM (Virtual Memory must be off); Mac OS 8.6 through 9.x. SCGI has made Asiva Photo available for US$378.
