SRSWOWcast Technologies, which provides business-to-business audio and voice enhancement technology solutions for broadcasting and streaming media, has announced the general availability of the SRS-APC Solo, a software product with patented SRS audio and voice enhancement technologies.
Jennifer Drescher, vice president of marketing for SRSWOWcast, said the product improves the quality and performance of compressed audio while saving up to 60 percent in bandwidth cost. And it’s completely compatible with all popular audio encoders and players, including QuickTime, Microsoft Media Player, RealPlayer and Music Match, she said.
SRSWOWcast created the SRS-APC Solo by customizing the software portion of its flagship streaming solution, the SRS Audio Processing Center, to address the needs of small businesses and professionals involved in sound design and production, multimedia, Web design, and Flash creation, Drescher said. It’s available now for US$999 plus an ongoing usage-based licensing fee.
The software solution performs the task of analyzing and enhancing an audio signal before it’s compressed or transmitted over the Internet to create stunning improvements in the quality of various content types, including mono, stereo, voice and surround-sound, Drescher said in a statement. It includes software versions of the full library of proprietary and proven audio technologies from parent company SRS Labs.
Any stream processed by SRS technology can be delivered by online media providers at lower bit rates, with the perceived quality of higher bit rates, Drescher said. The SRS-APC Solo can process one or two channels of audio in real-time, delivering the audio enhancement from the server side, with no requirement for the listener to obtain special hardware or download any software.
