Next Thursday, Helios, a provider of network and prepress software, will announce a beta program for its prepress servers for Mac OS X. They will be demoing them at the PRINT 01 expo at McCormick Center in Chicago, IL.
“This beta period is open to Helios resellers and distribution partners in concert with their customers,” company spokesperson Bill Gram-Reefer told MacCentral. “End users without tech support from the Helios sales channel are discouraged.”
Based upon beta feedback, Helios expects to ship products by mid October. The company’s server products now in beta and to be demonstrated during PRINT 01 include EtherShare 2.6 (a high performance server for Mac clients); EtherShare OPI 2.1 (a server-based OPI, including image replacement with color separation and proof printing support); PDF Handshake (for PDF printing, OPI and imposition, including PDF Internet printing and a “Create PDF” server); and Print Preview (for last minute proofing).
The Helios suite of networking and prepress servers represents the most extensive offering of Mac OS X native software available today, Gram-Reefer said. For a detailed look at HELIOS server features for Mac OS X go to the Helios product site. Apple dealers, system integrators and other qualified resellers may download the beta software by contacting their regional Helios distributor or local reseller.
