Trinfinity Software, the folks behind products such as Time Track, has released ASCII Tools 1.0, a freeware development tool for the Mac.
ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. It’s a standard code for presenting characters as numbers so that they can be stored in a computers memory. ASCII Tools gives developers easy access to ASCII table data, according to Eileen Newsom of Trifinity.
The utility also contains an ASCII character table with values in decimal and hexadecimal, as well as quick conversion utilities for ASCII value to character, and ASCII character to value. Newsom said that by selecting “Show Global Windows” from the “Windows” menu, developers can access any or all of the features of ASCII tools from within their current application, eliminating the need to switch back and forth.
ASCII Tools, developed with the REALbasic development environment from REAL Software, is available for both PowerPC and 68k Macs, Power Macs, and for the traditional Mac operating system as well as Mac OS X. You can download it at the ASCII Tools Web site.
