Today we launched a new forum software package adding many new features we were unable to offer in our old forums. We have been searching for a package that would allow our forum regulars to feel comfortable and allow new people, used to the more modern setups, to join in the discussions.
I believe we have found the perfect mix of customization and ease of use in what we launched today. New topics will be added as the forum community demand warrants the change — we are always open to your feedback.
One of the most popular forums we have at MacCentral are the forums at the bottom of each story. We launched these forums in the hope they would become a resource for people interested in the topic of that story. For the most part the forums provided the type of feedback most readers were looking for. However, the level of “noise” often times out weighed the intelligent conversation.
Beginning today, if you would like to post on the stories, you must be a registered member of MacCentral. You can register today and view our privacy policy. Our hope is to make the story forums as much of a resource as the story itself. Discussion on the story forums must be limited to the topic of the story itself. If you would like to discuss something other than the topic of the story, please use MacCentral’s general forums. If the posts to the story forums are kept on topic, we can achieve our goals for these forums.
If you have any feedback, please feel free to contact me.
