4D Inc. today announced the availability of 4D Server 6.7.5, which now runs natively on Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server. The new version of 4D’s relational database server requires no recoding to migrate from Mac OS 9 — 4D Server 6.7.5 will run automatically when installed on Mac OS X or Mac OS X Server.
The server software is completely compatible with existing Windows and Mac client software. 4D hopes to release a Mac OS X-native version of the client before the end of the year.
4D Inc. president and CEO Brendan Coveney said that his company is offering the free server update to demonstrate its commitment to Mac users. “We took the time to ensure our developers can migrate without changing a single ounce of code as a demonstration of our commitment to making their lives easy,” said Coveney.
4D Server 6.7.5 can be downloaded today. It’s free for registered 4D Server 6.7 users and it’s priced at US$299 for users of 4D Server 6.5. More details are available online.
