Computer Systems Odessa Corp. of Odessa, Ukraine, has released version 2.0 of its Visio to ConceptDraw file converter, a free utility for conversion of documents created in Microsoft Visio to ConceptDraw file format.
The converter lets users convert MS Visio documents into the ConceptDraw format to provide an easy data exchange with the world of Visio users. The file converter relies on the OLE technology, and can work either on a local machine which has Visio installed, or as an Internet service — which means that anyone can e-mail a Visio file to the server and receive the converted file by e-mail in a short time. To convert locally, the user can download a free utility from the ConceptDraw Web site. The Internet service is also free of charge.
This service is intended to give additional benefits to ConceptDraw users and make for easier integration with other popular flowcharting software. ConceptDraw is a program that lets users make professional-looking flowcharts, business diagrams, research layouts, organization schemes, plans, and more. It’s compatible across the Mac and Windows platforms. ConceptDraw has been Carbonized for Mac OS X.
The program has a set of drawing tools which let users create elementary segments, apply patterns, fills and shadows to objects, reshape, rotate and resize objects on a page. More complex drawings can be created with the help of pre-drawn library objects (over 1600), organized in industry-specific libraries. Each object may contain text, which can be edited with the built-in text processor. ConceptDraw allows for custom programmed objects, described by formulas and mathematic functions. It can process hyperlinks assigned to objects and text and supports most popular graphic formats and HTML export. Details can be found at the product Web site.
