Apple today opened its seventh retail store in Columbus, OH. The store is located in a new mall called Easton Town Center.
By now, we are all familiar with the fervor surrounding the Apple Store openings. People line-up for several hours before the store opens to be first in the store; some rush to be the first to buy a product; and others wait around to be the last to buy something. Two people in Ohio have brought this to a whole new level.
Kevin Holland and Jennifer Wojcik showed up for the opening at 9:00 pm — the night before. The night wasn’t without its problems for the duo — apparently the security guards at the mall weren’t impressed with them hanging around and made them leave. The resourceful couple then started moving their car from place to place and ducking under the dashboard when the security vehicles came near them.
The couple sold their old Mac tower the night before so they could get a new iBook when the store opened. No doubt a happy, but very tired pair of Mac enthusiasts.
Between 400-500 people showed up for the opening. The new mall also houses stores like Victoria’s Secret, Nordstroms and many other high end stores that opened today — Apple was the only one with a line.
“We’re extemely pleased with the turnout and grand opening day. The Easton Town Center is a terrific complex for Apple to be in,” Kathie Calcidise, COO, Apple retail, told MacCentral.
