Late last month MacCentral brought readers details of a new deal from Intego for iTools members. Intego said it would offer all members of Apple’s iTools a free copy of Content barrier — the company’s Internet filtering application.
After filling out a form, Intego said they would send an email with instructions on where to download the product during the first week of September 2001. The emails, with download instructions and serial numbers started arriving to registered users this morning.
Intego is offering the free program to fill the void left when Apple shutdown KidSafe, its Internet filtering program for children. The KidSafe program was eliminated in August due to low usage, according to the iTools team.
Even in canceling the service, Apple encouraged parents to look for alternative methods to protect their kids online. “Apple encourages you to continue monitoring your children’s use of the Internet and to be active in preventing them from accessing inappropriate content,” the iTools team said.
