Lind’s new Auto/Air Power Adapter isn’t the first DC adapter that the company has made for the PowerBook G4 and the new iBook, but it is the smallest — the diminutive adapter measures 3.75-inches and weights about 6 and a half ounces. The previous model was 5-inches long and about 11 ounces. Lind said the adapter features a ruggedized construction for durability — it’s housed in an ABS plastic case that’s moisture-resistant and capable of withstanding shock, vibration and other physical abuse. The adapter also includes replaceable input and output cables.
The Lind DC adapter also filters incoming power, boosting the voltage to the level needed to get the laptop to operate. Lind’s adapter features shutdown circuits that will protect the laptop and the adapter from damage if there are input or output load surges, as well.
The Lind Auto/Air Power Adapter, part number AP2425-523, carries a suggested retail price of US$79.95, and it comes with a nylon carrying case. It carries a three-year warranty that covers cable damage. The new adapter is available now.
