Metrowerks announced today the release of CodeWarrior for Mac OS, version 7.0. The development tools enable programmers to create software that runs on Mac OS and Mac OS X architectures.
According to Metrowerks, the new version of CodeWarrior targets “classic” Mac OS, Carbon, Native Mac OS X and Java. The development platform also includes Metrowerks PowerPlant, an object-oriented C++ application framework. Version 7.0 includes the Mach-O project converter which will automatically convert exiting Carbon PEF projects to Mach-O, enabling projects to run natively on Mac OS X.
Other new features include a new carbonized version of the integrated development environment (IDE), Mac OS X-hosted command line tools, the latest support for Altivec/Velocity Engine, and cross platform development tools to help developers target Windows.
CodeWarrior for Mac OS version 7.0 is priced at US$599 per license. Version 6 users can renew their license for US$299. Other upgrades are available for users interested in the Windows or combined cross-platform versions, as well. Visit Metrowerks’ Web site for more details.
