Montreal-based Kutoka Interactive has announced the release of Mia: Just in Time! It’s the latest edition of an educational adventure game series developed for kids ages 6 to 10 years old.
Mia is the star of the show, and she’s a young mouse on who finds herself drawn into a time-traveling adventure. Each Mia title emphasizes a different learning area, and Mia: Just in Time focuses specifically on math abilities as it weaves together number games and puzzles in a fun adventure.
In this installment of the Mia series, Mia’s attic home catches fire. Intrepid Mia decides to build a time machine to go back to prevent the fire, and it’s up to players and Mia to find all of the parts they’ll need to build the machine. Once it’s built, Mia can travel back in time so she can solve the mystery of why the attic caught fire to begin with and prevent it from happening again.
As with other Mia titles, the two-disc Mia: Just in Time! game features 3D animation and point-and-click navigation that’s extremely intuitive and fun for younger players. Four different levels Math activities sport lots of challenge.
Kids will develop skills like reading clocks, performing addition and subtraction, solving geometry problems and completing other age-appropriate math-related challenges. The game also features a series of mini-challenges like logic puzzles and numbers games.
Mia: Just in Time! is shipping now and is available on hybrid CD-ROMs compatible with both Mac OS and Windows. The software carries a suggested retail price of CDN$39.95.
