Bare Bones Software has updated Super Get Info, a file and folder info utility for Mac OS X, to version 1.0.2. An “Empty Trash” command has been added that lets you empty the Trash even when the Finder claims you don’t have sufficient privileges to do it.
The update also provides compatibility with NFS servers, improvements when dealing with items on locked volumes and several minor bug fixes. All registered users of Super Get Info can update to version 1.0.2 for free, and will be sent e-mail notification with instructions describing how to obtain the update.
Super Get Info costs US$20 to purchase. A fully-functional demo version which expires after 14 days is available from Bare Bones Software’s Web site. The utility requires Mac OS X 10.0 or later, and won’t run on any earlier version of the Mac OS.
Super Get Info — sort of a Get Info command provided by the Mac OS X Finder on steroids — lets a user open a separate information window for each selected Finder item, so that multiple selected items can be viewed and edited “discretely,” according to the folks at Bare Bones. It also lets the user view and edit the Mac OS type and creator codes for a given file; view and edit the Unix owner, group, and permission settings for any file or folder; and change a file’s creation and modification dates.
