The size and scope of assistance varies greatly, depending on their means, but more corporate benefactors are coming to the aid of service organizations and groups helping with recovery in the wake of Tuesday’s terrorist attacks in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania.
has agreed to donate US$10 million in cash and technical services. The company will make a $5 million cash donation to the “September 11th Fund,” which has been established by The United Way of New York City and New York Community Trust. The company has also pledged $5 million in technical services, volunteer hours and software, to area recovery effort and organizations.
Cupertino Mac reseller Elite Computers & Software — located right across the street from Apple’s headquarters — is donating $25 per Mac sale through the end of September. The proceeds will be made to the American Red Cross. The company will this weekend open its second store in San Rafael — ComputerWare by Elite Computers & Software.
Xplain Corp. subsidiary
has announced that it, too, is donating profits to the American Red Cross. Through the end of September, the company will donate the profits derived from sales via its online store and toll-free number. RadGad focuses on “useful items, gifts and gadgets.” (Xplain’s other concerns include MacTech Magazine and Developer Depot.)

announced plans to donate one half of all gross sales of its Modular Gateway Interface (MGI) between now and the end of the month. The company said that those funds will be placed in escrow and then transferred to a fund that is now being established by the New York Fire Department and the New York Police Department on behalf of the spouses and children of fire and police workers lost in the disaster. MGI is a plug-in for WebSTAR servers that allow developers to integrate more than 100 functions with HTML-style tags.
says that it will donate $2 for every Koingo Software Utility Package sold by the company for the next 30 days. The company will also donate $1 for every sale of an individual product. Donations go to the American Red Cross. Koingo’s products include Blaze, Contact Keeper, Alarm Clock Pro and more.
