Due to open tomorrow morning, Apple officials told MacCentral tonight that because of the tragic events this week, the Tampa store opening would be delayed one day and is now scheduled to open Saturday September 15 at 10:00 am.
The Tampa store will be Apple’s first in Florida and is located in the new International Plaza mall.
International Plaza is a brand new 1.26 million square foot shopping center located just a stone’s throw from Tampa International Airport. The enclosed mall includes anchor stores like Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom’s, as well 200 specialty retailers, restaurants and more.
Apple’s International Plaza store is the latest location to be revealed as Apple marches relentlessly towards opening 25 retail stores by the year’s end. The company has already opened stores in California, Virginia, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas, Massachusetts and Ohio, with stores opening on a near-weekly basis.
Apple also changed its home page earlier today posting a message to victims of the recent attacks. “Our thoughts are with those who were affected by the tragic events this week.” The Web site also included a link and the phone number for the American Red Cross.
