Einhugur Software has released CustomGrid 2.0, a tool for REALbasic developers. CustomGrid is a spreadsheet control for REALbasic that lets programmers create custom drawing in the cells.
With version 2.0, CustomGrid has now adopted the Einhugur “Floating Engine” from Grid/StyleGrid 2.0. Like in the other Grid plug-ins, the engine is object oriented, lets multiple grids share the same data container and act as multiple views on the same data. Rows can be shared across multiple grids or within the same grid. Cells which haven’t been written to are virtual and don’t actually exist until they are needed.
CustomGrid 2.0 now uses the REALEntry API to make the grid extendable for other plug-in authors. Also, there’s now support for smart scrolling under the Power Mac (at least with System 8.5 and later). And more than 32k of Rows are now supported under Carbon.
Einhugur is also having a contest about the best CustomGrid rendering model. The winner will get a free Einhugur subscription serial number that will never need to be renewed. For more info, go to the company’s Web site.
