Processor upgrade maker Sonnet Technologies has announced its “128MB for Free” program for buyers of its Crescendo/7200 processor upgrade. Every customer in the U.S. or Canada that buys one of these upgrades between now and September 30 qualifies.
The Crescendo/7200 enables users of Power Mac 7200s and other related models to install a processor upgrade card equipped with either a G3 or G4 processor. The card works in Power Mac 7200, 7215, 8200 and Workgroup Server 7250 models.
Sonnet said that the DIMMs it’s offering conform to the following specs: 128MB (16 x 64); 60ns; 5 volt; 4K refresh; 168-pint; Fast Page Mode (FPM). The memory is new, and can be installed either on the DIMM socket on the Crescendo/7200 board or on the motherboard DIMM sockets on the Power Mac 7200 itself. Sonnet said that every DIMM is tested and inspected, and carries a three year warranty.
The product can be purchased from any Sonnet reseller or from the Sonnet online store. Customers eligible for the upgrade must complete a form and include the UPC code from the eligible product package, as well as a copy of the receipt showing the date of purchase. Although the purchase must be made through September 30, the claim itself must be submitted by mail and postmarked no later than October 15.
