Xante has expanded its color printing line with the new ColourLaser 21, a 21 page-per-minute full color printer (26 ppm for black-and-white) that boasts 1200 x 1200 dpi, oversized printing capabilities up to 12 x 35.5 inches, true Adobe PostScript 3, photo quality color, and color management software.
Designed for quick printers, service bureaus, in-house production departments, and copy shops, the ColourLaser 21 series starts at US$7,495 and comes in three different configurations. Due next month, the series work with a mixture of Macs, PCs, UNIX, and other workstation environments.
The ColourLaser 21 series print on a wide range of paper types including ordinary bond paper, up to 110 pound index stock or specialty media such as transparencies and laser quality labels. They use high capacity toner cartridges of black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. Standard input includes a 550 sheet universal cassette and 100 sheet multi-purpose tray.
Two optional 550 sheet paper feeders with cassettes are available to bring input capacity to 1,750 sheets. An optional high capacity feeder can be used in conjunction with the standard cassette and multipurpose tray to bring input capacity to the maximum 2,300 sheets. Standard output capacity is 500 sheets in the main tray and 100 sheets in the straight paper path output tray. Duplexing is available for plain paper and thick stocks.
The $7,495 ColourLaser 21 has 256 MB of RAM, upgradeable to 1,024 MB. The $8,495 Xante ColourLaser 21D ships standard with 320 MB RAM, upgradeable to 1,024 MB. This unit includes all of the same features as the Xante ColourLaser 21 with the addition of a duplex unit and 5 GB internal hard drive. The $9,990 Xante ColourLaser 21HC provides the same quality features that are offered on the Xante ColourLaser 21D, with the addition of a high capacity tray. The high capacity tray includes three 550 sheet trays for a total of 1,650 sheet capacity.
