There was plenty of Mac related news at this week’s IBC (International Broadcasting Convention) convention. The “world’s largest electronic media event” ran Sept. 14-18 at the RAI Congress Center in Amsterdam.
Digital Voodoo showed their products and gave them the “full works” in combination with Final Cut Pro, Floris Ketel, a streaming media specialist with Netherlands-based ZXFactory, told MacCentral. Digital Voodoo also showed their new HDTV Video editing card, he added.
Philips showed an editing suite from the just-acquired VEON company. It enables editors to build rich media content like QuickTime 5 and LiveStagePro. This version did not supported MPEG-4 yet but it will in a couple of months, Ketel said.
Both Discreet and Media 100 were on hand, but neither showed any of the Cleaner line of products. Discreet has signed an agreement to buy Media 100’s software product line, including the Cleaner family of products — Cleaner 5, Cleaner EZ, Cleaner Live, Charger and SuperCharger — and the editing and dynamic streaming media production software of CineStream, EventStream technology, EditDV, and IntroDV.
Ketel also tells us that Apple — on hand to promote QuickTime and QT streaming solutions — showed their own developed MPEG-4 codec. However, Apple hasn’t officially announced such a critter.
The International Broadcasting Convention is designed to cover all the key areas of the electronic media business including audio, cable, film, grip, Internet, lighting, multimedia, production, postproduction, radio, satellite and transmission. The event consisted of an exhibition, conference and program festival.
