German Mac game publishers e.p.i.c. interactive today announced the release of a Macintosh conversion of the economic simulation game Knights & Merchants. This unusual real-time strategy game puts you in the role of a medieval administrator and military leader responsible for the restoration of a kingdom. It’s the latest PC game conversion licensed by e.p.i.c. from Topware Interactive.
Knights & Merchants puts you in the shoes of the captain of the king’s guard — you’re responsible for the defense of your sovereign’s last loyal province, and you must win back those provinces which have defected. In order to do so you’ll need to oversee the manufacture of finished goods, the creation of buildings and the generation of weapons and armor. Organize your king’s land and resource efficiently and watch as it flourishes; do a poor job and watch as things crumble around you. You must rise to your land’s defenses, too.
The game features more than two dozen different types of buildings, more than a dozen different types of characters, 10 different types of military units; realistic landscape generation using Gouraud shading; detailed animation and cut-scenes; onscreen hints and tutorial mode; LAN multiplayer for up to six players; 20 different single player missions; and 10 different multiplayer maps.
Knights & Merchants comes localized in English, French, German and Spanish languages. Consult e.p.i.c.’s Web site for a list of resellers and distributors in your area — their products are distributed in North America by online Mac software/hardware reseller Mac-O-Rama.
