dvGarage — a QuickTime-only site dedicated to “building the next generation of visual media artists” — is continuing its tutorial series with an
animated step-by-step process of creating Heat Ripples.
“No matter what 3D or compositing package you have, this tutorial will provide key insights into the procedures and adds another layer of realism to your work in an easy to learn and understandable process,” dvGarage founder Alex Lindsay, and a former member of Industrial Light and Magic’s Rebel Unit, told MacCentral.
The tutorial is a continuation of a series of tutorials lead by Lindsay. It adds to the three-plus hours of free streaming tutorials on the site that both observe the world from a computer artist’s point of view and try to recreate that world through easy to follow animated tutorials. Other weekly tutorials on the site include building a CG pumpkin, a hockey puck and a super realistic chrome surface using layered rendering.
dvGarage is also the company behind the dvG Surface Toolkit, a
collection of images and tutorials specifically designed add the final touches of reality to both 2D and 3D projects.
