Australian developer T&B has announced the release of Enhancement Pack 1.4.1 for AppleWorks. This is a third-party product that offers additional features and functions for Apple’s resident productivity application suite.
The Enhancement Pack incorporates more than 40 extra capabilities, including Table of Contents, Small Caps and Word Caps, Dashed Lines, Join Prism Corners, Label Dimensions, Replace field values, document Compare, and functions such as Median, Mode and Linear Regression. It can also be used to publish an AppleWorks database on the Web. The enhancements are accessible via new menu items in AppleWorks, once installed.
Version 1.4.1 corrects a bug involving Mac OS 9.1 or higher and AppleWorks 6, where some menu commands cannot locate needed files, according to T&B. The new update also improves the Pack’s ability to “Duplicate Multiple” selected records in a database; database “Compare” and “Find Duplicates” can compare any desired fields; database “Replace” can replace with a value, formula result, increase/decrease or a numeric series, or replace just a partial string; Label Dimensions labels the height and/or width of graphic; bug fixes and more.
You’ll need to be using AppleWorks or ClarisWorks 5 or later and Mac OS 7.5.5. T&B indicate that the Enhancement Pack works best with AppleWorks 6 and Mac OS 8.6 or later. Some features are also compatible with Mac OS X.
The Enhancement Pack is shareware. It costs US$20, and site license discounts are available. The update is available free to registered users.
T&B emphasizes that the Enhancement Pack is not an Apple product, and it does not upgrade AppleWorks itself, nor does it patch bugs directly. T&B is the software developer who developed the scripts that ship with the AppleWorks 6 CD, however.
