Openpages Inc. today announced the release of ContentWare 3.0, an enterprise-level content production system. The software is integrated with popular desktop applications and offers what Openpages described as “enhanced support” for the Mac.
New functionality present in ContentWare 3.0 includes WebExpress, a browser-based tool for remote users; APIs to customize and transform content; online storage capabilities; and enhanced installation and administration abilities.
Users can create content with Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Quark Xpress and Macromedia Dreamweaver, using ContentWare to manage content elements in a central repository. Openpages noted that since digital assets are stored centrally in native formats, ContentWare can help companies reuse content and deploy across multiple media — Web, print and wireless.
WebExpress enables remote users operating on a Web browser to create content, search, preview, check assets in and out and edit.
If your organization has specific publishing or distribution needs, Openpages explained that ContentWare 3.0 can support customized external processing modules through the use of an Application Program Interface (API). Applications for ContentWare 3.0’s custom API include custom conversion, metadata assignment or other manipulation.
ContentWare 3.0’s new archiving features enable users to have access to both work in progress and legacy content directly from within the ContentWare environment. A “silent mode” installation option enables administrators to update all ContentWare components on client workstations, as well.
