An Apple spokesperson confirmed for MacCentral today that the Germantown Apple Store would not open this weekend as originally planned.
The store is located at The Shops of Saddle Creek, 7615 W Farmington Blvd, Germantown, TN, which is close to downtown Memphis, the airport and the warehouse district.
Readers may remember Germantown as the place that wouldn’t allow Apple to place its logo on a sign. The problem is that Apple’s logo incorporates an apple design and Germantown’s sign ordinance doesn’t allow food items on signs. Apple also wanted to illuminate the logo and Germantown’s sign ordinance doesn’t allow internal illumination either.
There was no word from Apple if the signage issues had anything to do with the store opening being postponed or when a rescheduled opening would take place.
