Several companies have pledged support for Adobe InDesign 2.0 — announced earlier today — by announcing plug-ins that will further extend its functionality.
“The growing number of third-party developers creating plug-in products for InDesign underscores the value of InDesign in the creative workflow,” said Susan Altman Prescott, vice president of cross media publishing at Adobe. “Designers in ad agencies, book publishing, newspapers, magazines, or other specialized markets will clearly benefit from the focused capabilities that plug-ins deliver.”
Companies that will release plug-ins for InDesign include GLUON, Virginia Systems, ALAP, Datalogics, Managing Editor, Em Software, Enfocus Software, SoftCare, Callas Software and Woodwing Software.
Managing Editor will release TruEdit, a print production workflow tool for the broad publishing market. SoftCare has developed the K4 Publishing System using Adobe InDesign and InCopy to allow different groups of people to simultaneously edit and layout pages.
GLUON has developed Cropster, Slugger and ProScale — plug-ins designed to improve productivity and organizational management. Virginia Systems will release InDex, InFnote, Fnote, InRef, and TOC. These plug-ins improve text retrieval and index generation capabilities for publishers that need to create complex documents.
InDesign 2.0 will be available in the first (calendar) quarter of 2002 to customers in the United States and Canada.
