Sonic Solutions has announced that its SD-1000 video encoder is now compatible with Apple’s DVD Studio Pro mastering software. The encoder enables users to capture video in real-time, rather than depending on DVD Studio Pro’s built-in encoder, which works slower.
Features of the SD-1000 include real-time encoding with preview during encode to an external video monitor; real-time stereo, PCM, MPEG-1 layer II and Dolby Digital audio encoding; frame-accurate control over chapter point locations; and 9 pin RS-422 machine control.
Sonic also noted that the SD-1000 will work with their own pro DVD mastering software — DVD Fusion and DVD Creator. The encoder is based on the SD-2000 model, which Sonic sells to post-production facilities.
SD-1000 version 2.1.6 is now available through Sonic’s resellers, and carries a suggested list price of US$10,000.
