Corel Corp. today introduced Corel Graphics Suite 10 for Macintosh. The software is designed to run on Mac OS 8.6 through Mac OS X, and it includes software for vector illustration, image editing, painting and animation.
The software includes support for Apple technologies, including OS X’s Aqua interface, ColorSync and QuickTime. New features in Corel Graphics Suite 10 include re-engineered interactive tools, enhanced Web publishing abilities, new color management options, an integrated preflight engine, a Web image optimizer and pro publishing features including PDF output, page imposition, and advanced print and color separation preview.
The main applications that comprise Corel Graphics Suite 10 include:
CorelDRAW 10 — an application with image creation, vector and raster image effects, high end output features, and Web and page layout capabilities. Corel said the new version sports a customizable UI, easier to use color management and enhancements to tools. Corel PHOTO-PAINT 10 — a photo-editing, image composition and painting application. The new version gets a customizable interface and improved masking functionality, enhanced text tools, better drop shadowing features and automatic update and preview. Corel R.A.V.E. — a vector animation tool suitable for creating Macromedia Flash (SWF) animations. CorelTRACE 10 — a tracing utility that converts scanned or manually created raster images into vector graphics. A couple of supporting utilities are also included: Corel Edition of Font Reserve — DiamondSoft’s font management utility that collects font data, checks for corruption and enables users to quickly and easily maximize their font collections with specific applications and documents. Canto Cumulus Desktop LE 5.0 — the media management system that enables users to organize media and graphics files into a browsable catalog. Users can index images, designs, clipart, stock photos and QuickTime media. Look for Corel Graphics Suite 10 on store shelves now — the software carries a suggested retail price of US$569. Upgrades are available for users of CorelDRAW 6 and 8 for $249. French and German versions will be available in November.
