ISI ResearchSoft has released an upgrade to its
ProCite software that the company says transforms the bibliographic program into a powerful online research tool.
The ProCite “information toolbox” will let you:
Search the Internet for references. You can search PubMed and Internet libraries worldwide from ProCite. References can be directly exported from Web of Science, Current Contents and Discovery Agent. Manage your references. With ProCite, you can organize your data using standard Mac navigational tools, link to the Web, capture Web pages into your ProCite database, locate references with searching options, save search expressions and re-use them later, create reference groups to identify a specific subset of a database, use seven pre-defined sorting options or create your own, edit records individually or globally, and customize your reference list display (you can even preview a formatted reference). Create instant bibliographies. You can format bibliographies for hundreds of journal styles, or create your own. Revise your manuscript as many times as needed — all within Microsoft Word. You can use subject lists to present data organized by author, keyword or any other field. Share references on a network. ProCite is also available as a network program. The network program is licensed based on the number of workstations or on concurrent accesses to the program. Post your ProCite databases to the Web. If you buy the separate Reference Web Poster, you can share your personal references on the Internet. Now, as of version 5, you can also manage references from the Internet to the creation of bibliographies. It’s targeted to government and academic researchers, librarians, writers and students who need to find, import, manage and perfectly format reference data for professional journals, grants, dissertations, theses, CVs, research papers and regulatory filings.
Version 5 also supports new footnote style formatting and ships with bibliographic styles for over 600 journals. ProCite can also create a subject listing by topic and produce an index.
ProCite 5 is designed for Macintosh OS 8.6 and 9.x. It’s not Carbonized, but will run in Classic Mode on Mac OS X. The list price is US$395.95. North American students can purchase ProCite for $109.95. Special upgrade prices are available to owners of previous versions. For details go to the
product Web site.
