Turbo Squid has announced the release of a new version of Turbo Squid LT, a search utility developed for 3D artists. The new beta version of the software has been developed to work with Mac OS X.
With Turbo Squid LT, you can browse asset collections comprised of over 75,000 3D models, motion capture files, textures and shaders that are available through Turbo Squid’s own online marketplace.
Turbo Squid CTO Matthew Wisdom noted that traditionally, 3D software is not geared toward the Mac market. “We have made a considerable effort to support the Mac community as have some of our key software partners. Using the new Turbo Squid search software for OSX will give Mac users easier access to 3D content developed in popular 3D animation programs like Maya, Lightwave and Poser,” said Wisdom.
Turbo Squid software is free — the company offers a marketplace where 3D artists and animators can buy and sell content online. Once members register for a password and an e-mail address, they can host their work on the system at no charge, maintaining control of their work and receiving monthly royalties for the sale of individual assets.
