Soft Solutions announced today that 4-Sight Fax version 5.0 will sport client-server communication over TCP/IP using HTTP and XML (eXtensible Markup Language). 4-Sight Fax is a Mac-friendly networkable fax server solution, and version 5.0 is the latest major upgrade in development.
Soft Solutions senior programming specialist Jamie Cox explained that this means 4-Sight Fax will be able to tie into custom applications like Web browser clients. “Custom solutions written in any development environment which supports HTTP and XML will be able to use 4-Sight faxing,” said Cox.
Soft Solutions indicated that the software could be configured out of the box for users to send faxes over the Internet from home to the office server, for transmission. An e-mail/fax gateway will convert e-mail to faxes and send them out, as well. Users can also fax single documents or broadcast many from any application, and can have faxes delivered to them via inbound call routing.
4-Sight Fax 5.0 is developed for Mac OS X, but it also works with Mac OS 8 and 9. 4-Sight Fax 5.0 is currently in development.
