Gideon Software has updated several of its Mac OS X applications to make them compatible with Mac OS X 10.1.
GetInfo has been updated to version 0.7.5. It’s a US$10 utility that lets you set file permissions, change the owner of a file and change the group of a file. It reduces the need for the user to go to the command line to perform these simple tasks, according to David Clark of Gideon Softworks.
Snard has been revved to version 0.7, which should only be used under Mac OS X 10.1. Snard, is a $10 Dock-based launcher. It reduces Dock clutter by replacing numerous application and document icons in the Dock with a single “docklet,” Clark said. Snard also includes the ability to launch an application as the admin; perform a search locally or Internet wide using Sherlock; and provides one-click access to all your preferences.
Dock-It is now up to version 0.6. It’s a Finder enhancement utility for Mac OS X that adds a drive/favorites bar dock and an optional shelf for file operations. Dock-It’s optional Shelf dock allows you to perform complex copies without opening more than one Finder window, according to the folks at Gideon. An auto-updating Drive dock gives you easy access to all your hard drives and network volumes. The Drive dock also allows for the addition of your favorite directories. The Shelf and Drive dock location are configurable. The cost? You guessed it: $10.
There are current incompatibilities between two Gideon products, SSH Admin and iFTP, but they’ll be fixed in the next release, Clark said. SSHD Admin, a free product, lets you configure and use the Secure Shell Daemon. iFTP is a $25 FTP client.
