Navarre Corp. today announced a new strategic alliance with Apple. Navarre Distribution Services will supply third-party Mac software to Apple’s new retail stores and to its Web site. The company said that Apple would also utilize it to establish distribution for developing Mac publishers.
Navarre explained that to start, product would be shipped to Apple’s distribution center for fulfillment both for retail stores and customer orders. Navarre plans to facilitate shipping orders itself in the future, though.
For Navarre president and CEO Eric Paulson, it’s all about improving the choice that customers have. “In continuing the growth of our software business, it is important to look for ways to diversify and increase the product offerings to our retail customers nationwide. We see this agreement with Apple as a solid step towards achieving that goal,” said Paulson.
Navarre’s business concerns include the distribution services business, Navarre Entertainment Media, which distributes proprietary entertainment products, and a business-to-business e-commerce site.
