An updated preview version of a new download utility called iGetter is now available from Presenta Software Company. The utility lets you download things from the Internet and can resume broken links, integrate with Internet browsers, schedule downloads for low traffic periods, reconnect modems, hang up and shut down when the downloads are done.
iGetter supports drag and drop technology. You can use its Target Icon to download any draggable link or file with Internet location. iGetter supports monitoring of your clipboard for Internet addresses. Plus, it lets you organize your file downloads with different priorities and automatically downloads them.
According to the folks at Presenta, the latest preview version, PR1.4, contains a number of enhancements and improvements over the previous beta version, including:
iGetter analyzes every server response to prevent damage of your file download, according to MacTech magazine. It detects your connection so it can automatically reconnect the modem connection at the point where all file downloads are completed. iGetter can schedule your downloads for low traffic periods, hang up the PPP connection and shut down the computer when all files in the queue are finished.
The utility supports both standard Apple Remote Access and third party PPPs. iGetter has full-multithreaded engine and can simultaneously download all files, according to the gang at Presenta. Plus, it supports Internet Config, HTTP and FTP proxies and socks firewalls.
System requirements are a Mac with PowerPC processor, Mac OS 7.5.3 or better and OpenTransport 1.1 or better. You can download the latest preview version at the product Web site.
