Next year’s east coast Seybold Seminars conference is moving back to New York City, after three years in Boston. The show’s coordinators plan to hold next year’s event at the Javits Convention Center — home of Macworld Expo’s summer show since 1998 — from February 19 – 22, 2002.
SeyboldNY 2002 is a four-day event that will focus on the segments of the publishing industry that are centered in New York City, according to its promoters. Those segments include advertising, financial, magazine and book publishing. There will be a newly added conference segment, too — PDF for Electronic Publishing, which coordinators suggested will be the world’s largest PDF conference.
Seybold Seminars and Publications president Gene Gable said that his company is excited to return to New York. “It’s where our customers are, it’s where business takes place, and it’s where the world turns when looking for new commerce models in publishing,” said Gable.
Gable said that the decision to bring Seybold Seminars back to New York was made prior to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers on September 11. Gable said that those events have only strengthened Seybold’s resolve to return to New York. “We look forward to working with the city, the hotel community and the numerous businesses that depend on trade events for their vitality,” said Gable.
