Pay&Play Software, whose products are available exclusively online, has introduced Mail Merge Pro (MMP) for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X 10.
Mail Merge Pro is a professional label and mail merge application that lets you choose from over 800 Avery presets or create your own. It also sports built-in drawing tools. You can merge data from a text file and use different font, style, size, justification and color for the label text. MMP lets you design your own borders and backgrounds, adding just about any type of image. You can scale an image to the exact size you want.
Note that there is one OS X 10.1 bug that Pay&Play knows about. There’s a problem with screen refreshing that keeps some of the tools (in Mac OS X only) from showing up until you click on where they should be.
“We are working on a fix, but are hoping Apple comes up with one as well,” Stephen Reiss of Pay&Play told MacCentral. “I have seen similar problems in many other OS X applications.”
Mail Merge Pro requires Mac OS 9.x (with the Carbon Lib 1.0.4 or higher extension) or Mac OS X, a Power Mac, 25MB of free RAM, a screen resolution of 800 x 600 or higher with 16-bit color (thousands of colors), and QuickTime.
A demo is available at the Pay&Play Software Web site. The company encourages you to download the demo and give it a test drive. If you like it, the registration fee is US$49.95.
