The new game is due out by the end of the month. It’s a compendium which combines the original Age of Empires II strategy game with The Conquerors Expansion, an add-on pack that introduces new civilizations, units, map types and other embellishments. Although both have been available for a while, it’s only been recently that the Windows-compatible version of Age of Empires II: Gold Edition has been shipping. In a recent statement, Destineer president Peter Tamte noted that the Mac conversion of Age of Empires II would be available at the same price as its PC counterpart.
Age of Empires II: Gold Edition is a real-time strategy game that combines elements of civilization building with military conquest. The game has been enormously popular on the Windows platform and has been long sought after by Macintosh users since its release.
Age of Empires II: Gold Edition is planned for a release in late October. It’s the freshman release from Destineer Studios and Bold. While Bold is focusing specifically on bringing Microsoft’s games to the Mac, Destineer is working on a 3D engine it plans to use in future games for the PC, Mac, and video game consoles.
More details about Age of Empires II: Gold Edition and how to place an order are available from the Bold Web site.
