Raining Data Corp. said that Omnis Studio 3.1 is coming in mid-October. Omnis Studio is a Rapid Application Development (RAD) tool designed to work on multiple platforms, including various flavors of Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
The new version of Omnis Studio has been developed to better support Mac OS X and to bring feature parity to all the supported platforms, according to the developer. Support for Sun Solaris version 8 has also been added.
Omnis Studio 3.1 gains full support for OS X’s Aqua interface, and also provides a porting tool to help ease user migration to OS X. The new version also lets users define “themes” for windows and fonts that control application appearance under Mac OS X, and provide equivalent appearance properties for other platforms.
Raining Data Corp. explained that Omnis Studio can be used to enable individual or team-based developers to create e-business and information management products for companies and organizations. Applications include healthcare, human resources, publishing, customer relationship management, e-business, education, government and more. The software provides access to leading server database platforms including Oracle, Sybase, DB2, Informix, and all ODBC-complaint databases including MySQL and MS SQL Server.
You can try Omnis Studio before you buy it, too. Visit the eval Web page for more details.
