Kanzu Utilities has released QXP Maven 1.0. It’s a stand alone document preflight utility designed to work with QuarkXPress.
According to the developer, QXP Maven can identify more than 70 kinds of potential problems that are bound to crop up at print time — things like RGB images that haven’t been converted; suppressed for print items; rotated images; spot colors; excessive scaling; menu styled fonts; hairlines; manually trapped items; and other problems.
Maven also supports batch processing, collect for output, and enables a hotspot for quick access to the software while working in QuarkXPress. The software also contains an “Autofix” feature that can fix potential problems on the fly, including converting spot color to process, unsuppressing items, and setting TIFF picture box colors from non to white.
Maven supports Drag & Drop, also — it scans the document and lists potential problems in a single window, which can then be used to navigate to the problem elements.
QXP Maven costs US$69. If you’re already using QXP Delivery, you can upgrade to QXP Maven for $45 instead. A limited demo version is also available for download.
