(For those new to the column, Forward Migration is our term for companies moving from Wintel machines to Macs — or at least adding or increasing the number of Macs they use. A forward migration kit is an overview of Mac OS products for a particular occupation, such as dentistry, accounting, etc.)
This week we’re looking at debt elimination software for the Mac.
Mac LoanPro
Mac LoanPro from Real Mac Solutions, now up to version 2.0, is a set of financial tools to help you with many fixed and adjustable rate loan calculations. In its Custom Schedule window, you can create custom schedules for variable interest rates and extra payments in any month. You can enter repeating extra payments with a Repeat Entry option. LoanPro also compares up to three loan scenarios for total costs, calculates your maximum borrowing power and estimates the interest saved by early payoff.
A demo version is available for download. However, until you register the application you won’t be able to print any schedules or show loans greater that five years. All other features will work. The cost for registration is US$25. Mac LoanPro is made for the traditional Mac operating system and hasn’t been Carbonized for Mac OS X.
SnapShot Gold
SnapShot Gold is a $9.95 tool from Crown Financial Ministries designed to help you capture and analyze your current debts and customize your own plan to pay down those debts. It includes a financial calculator, which also handles mortgage and investment calculations.

It includes an online budget guide, budgetometer (to let you find out how your budget stacks up), “How Much Does Mom Really Make Calculator” (for moms thinking of entering or leaving the workforce), a Credit Card Minimum Payment Calculator (which shows how much you really pay by only making the minimum payment), a Lease/Purchase Calculator (which compares leasing versus buying an automobile), a Mortgage Prepayment Calculator (for calculating the effects of extra monthly payments on your mortgage), a15 vs. 30 Year Mortgage Calculator (which compares a 15-year mortgage to a 30-year mortgage), and Personality I.D. The company also offers an online library that offers an article index, articles on various subjects provided by other ministries and organizations, a frequently asked questions (FAQ), daily devotional, breaking financial news, and the Economic Update featuring consumer and financial news.
