If you want to put a Halloween face on Mac OS X, you may want to check out a new, just-for-fun application from StimpSoft. The free animated “hallo-weenie” puts a flowing Jack-O-Lantern in the Dock.
“It works just like the old Pumpkin.app, except it only runs in the Dock, not in a window,” John Schilling of StimpSoft said. “It has customizable faces and includes a template to help create your own face.”
New faces can be added by making black and white PICT files and placing them in the “Faces” folder. Every place in the picture that is black will show up as a cut out area on the pumpkin. The app was developed using the REALBasic development environment from Real Software.
The animated hallo-weenie is a Mac OS X only application. It won’t run under any other version of the Mac operating system. You can grab it at the product Web site.
