Macrovision, a company that specializes in digital rights management technologies, says its GLOBEtrotter Software Division has completed the development of FLEXlm for Mac OS X, Apple’s next generation operating system. FLEXlm is an electronic licensing technology.
FLEXlm for Mac OS X benefits from the super-modern operating system’s power, stability and advanced networking capabilities, according to Mark Belinsky, GLOBEtrotter’s senior vice president and general manager. FLEXlm is the center of the electronic licensing “ecosystem” for over 2,500 ISVs worldwide, he added.
“FLEXlm is a key component for software vendors to securely manage e-commerce portals on a global basis and we are pleased to make this product available on Mac OS X,” Belinksy said in announcing the new product.
Large and small software businesses use FLEXlm to ensure that only licensed customers use their products and that users stay within the terms of their license agreement. FLEXlm’s license policies also help vendors establish efficient pricing policies, so customers who use products heavily pay more, and infrequent users pay less, Belinskay said. With FLEXlm, vendors can run large-scale product evaluation programs by issuing limited use licenses for trial periods.
The pricing options can be found at the GLOBEtrotter Web site.
