HELIOS Software GmbH said today that it has added support for PNG and BMP image formats to its EtherShare OPI prepress server. The new support is currently being beta-tested and is available to existing EtherShare OPI 2.1 customers.
EtherShare OPI is HELIOS’ OPI image replacement system, with support for color separation and proof printing. The software has been developed to work in conjunction with pre-press workflows based around the company’s EtherShare server, which runs on a variety of platforms including Mac OS X.
PNG has become a popular Web image format, and the EtherShare OPI beta update supports the conversion of all images to PNG interlaced (progressive) format, including converting Photoshop and TIFF image masks into PNG masks. Conversion can be managed either volume-wide or on a per-folder basis.
BMP is the default image format for Windows users. EtherShare OPI can now create preview images with a fixed x/y pixel resolution; Internet previews with a fixed image size are now supported with a new layout command line switch.
Users interested in the beta update can download the software from HELIOS’ Web site. The preview will timeout on February 1, 2002.
