A public beta of iScreensaver Designer for both Mac and Windows platforms is now available from Xochi Media.
Touted as the “world’s first and only cross-platform screensaver editor,” it will convert any QuickTime-compatible movie (including MPEG, Moov, AVI and Macromedia Flash files) into a self-contained screensaver. iScreensaver Designer offers content locking, including a “deluxe” movie that’s hidden until users enter an unlocking code.
Interactive movies are supported; they can include interactive Flash or QuickTime movies that contain hotspots and buttons. iScreensaver Designer provides URL links that can direct users back to a particular Web site. Its full branding features lets users put personal or corporate artwork, logos and text into screensavers.
There are a variety of license options, from non-profit to full commercial use. The software is available as a fully functional free trial download with no time limits. To download or get more information, got to the public beta site. During the beta test period, 20 percent discounts are being offered on distribution licenses.
iScreensaver Designer is for Mac OS 9.x. It’s not been Carbonized for Mac OS X.
