International Data Group (IDG) today announced that it has become sole owner of Mac Publishing, LLC. Until now, Mac Publishing, LLC was a joint venture between IDG and Ziff Davis Media Inc. For the past four years, Ziff Davis has held a 50 percent interest in Mac Publishing, LLC.
San Francisco, Calif.-based Mac Publishing publishes Macworld magazine as well as Macworld.com and MacCentral.com. IDG produces Macworld Conference & Expo. IDG noted that this acquisition makes the company the world’s largest source of targeted information for the Macintosh industry.
Mac Publishing President and CEO Colin Crawford noted that IDG has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to Apple users since the early 1980s, when it provided info on the Apple II market. “Given IDG’s continued dedication to this market, I’m extremely pleased to be able to bring the Macworld publication back to the IDG family,” said Crawford.
Boston-based IDG publishes more than 300 newspapers and magazines in 85 countries. The company has annual revenues of US$3.1 billion. IDG also produces 168 technology-related events including Macworld Conference & Expo.
The specific terms of IDG’s acquisition were not disclosed.
