Agfa Monotype Corp. has two new software applications designed for novice users with little or no color experience: ColorTune Adjust and ColorTune MatchUp.
But Mac users shouldn’t hold their breath. Designed to let users get consistent, high-quality color output, both products are scheduled for release later this year for a variety of Windows operating systems. Mac support is planned “for a future release,” according to Agfa.
ColorTune Adjust is a profile-editing tool that lets you modify industry-standard ICC-compliant color profiles for maintaining consistent and accurate color. Users can control the brightness, contrast and saturation levels within profiles. The software also has a cast removal function and a white point/black point adjustment. All profile modifications can be made within different ICC rendering intents. Adjustments can be appended to an existing printer profile and then saved as a unique profile representing specific ink and media combinations.
By optimizing the “color match” between a selected scanner and printer combination, ColorTune MatchUp purportedly reduces or eliminates color disparities and other inconsistencies that are sometimes dramatic when comparing printed reproductions to their originals. With it, users can better print images that match their originals. ColorTune MatchUp is suitable for any setting where a color printer and TWAIN-compliant scanner are used, such as narrow and wide format inkjet printers, multifunctional peripherals (MFPs), printer/copiers and desktop printers.
ColorTune MatchUp and ColorTune Adjust represent the latest additions to Agfa’s line of ColorTune imaging products and services for OEMs.
